In 2005, I placed a 2 foot high, seated ceramic Buddha in my back garden. He has meditated there ever since, enduring all the kinds of weather that nature dumps on the Midwest. The seasons have come and gone. Buddha's pitted ceramic body has begun to show the effects of the weather. His various layers of paint have begun to "melt away." I always thought Buddha was holding this gentle thought, so softly expressed in his smile, "I, too, will return to the Earth."
